About Clete Shields
Clete Shields is a self-taught sculptor living and working in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Shields' work has been commissioned by Quentin Tarantino, Kevin Smith, Robert Rodriguez, and Samuel L. Jackson.
In 2011, Shields was commissioned by Capital Area Statues, Inc. (CAST) to design and sculpt an eight-foot tall bronze monument of country music star Willie Nelson for the city of Austin, Texas; as well as the "Vaquero: Genesis of the Texas Cowboy", a fourteen-foot tall bronze monument for Texas State University in San Marcos. In 2012 Shields' Willie Nelson maquette was voted into the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC.
